Our products

 

Where do Gaïora’s products come from?

All our products are carefully selected from local artisans who do not necessarily have a storefront and who deserve to be recognized for their quality work. The products are imported directly from countries where these artisans are living. There is no intermediary between Gaïora and craftsmen. For our collection "Southeast Asia" for example, we have imported products from Cambodia, Indonesia, Bhutan or Thailand. Prices are negotiated directly with artisans by ensuring that their pay is fair and that they could meet their needs and those of their community.

Which products make up the Current collection?

Each current collection is regional. There are 3 Current collections in a year. For each collection, we change countries / regions of origin of handicrafts and so providers. This has been thought in order to focus better on the craft techniques used in the different regions of the world, but also to be able to focus on the cultures of each region or country.

We want to create a universe around each collection and help you discover lives of these artisans, providing any kind of information supplements the in-progress collection (meetings with artisans, focus on handcrafted techniques depending on the countries concerned, tips, and places to visit ... all available in our Journal).

Which products make up the Permanent collection?

The Permanent collection includes all best-sellers products from a previous collection, ie handicrafts that have won the most success into the current collection. It is updated regularly. If you want to see a product from a previous collection in this section, please write to us at hello@gaiora.com.

A product is out-of-stock, how can I order it?

The products of the current collections are exclusive and available in limited quantity.

However, we will restock best-sellers products, thus they will be back in stock into the Permanent collection.

 

 

 

Our artisans

 

How do you select the artisans with whom you work?

If possible, we go on site to meet the artisans with whom we work and soak up their creations and their manufacturing techniques.

Unfortunately, the lack of budget sometimes prevents us from meeting everyone but we make sure each time that the sale of handicrafts accrue directly to the men and women who worked on the manufacture of these products. We also ensure that they work under good working conditions (our artisans should belong "fair trade" label).

How do you communicate with the artisans who live in remote areas?

Some artisans are sometimes represented by volunteers who speak English and working for development of the association. This is the case of Ana by Karma in Bhutan. In this case, we are in relation with their representative based in Hong Kong and who dedicates part of her time to humanitarian causes by working for the development of Ana by Karma. She goes on site and provides us all the necessary information about the artisans (pictures, new products ...).

How do the artisans learn their skills?

Handcrafted techniques are often passed down from generation to generation and are unique to each ethnic group. Making methods have improved over time (performance weaving machines, for example) but they are impossible to reproduce with manufacturing methods called "industrial."

How Gaïora actually improves lives of these artisans?

By buying from local artisans as Mulberries (Laos) eg  Gaïora helps improving the lives of Lao artisans and their communities. Indeed, thanks to the revenues generating by our purchases, they can continue to perpetuate the art of weaving silk among new generations. Nowadays, Mulberries employs more than 2,000 artisans in 5 provinces of Laos, all trained in silk weaving by experts.

I do not receive your invitations, promotional codes and latest news. How can I manage it?

To receive all the latest news from Gaïora (new online collection), as well as loyalty offers, you should subscribe to our newsletter by clicking here.

However, if you already subscribed to our newsletter and still do not receive anything, we advise you to check your spams and add hello@gaiora.com in your address book.

 

Can I cancel or change my order?

Once you have confirmed your order, you have the option to modify or cancel it within 1 hour. Beyond this period, your order will be prepared for shipment and you should wait to receive it, and then return your product(s) so we could proceed with a refund.

How can I pay for my order?

You can settle your orders by Visa or Mastercard, Paypal and by check payable to "RIVAGES - Gaïora".

For payment by check, we will wait for the receipt of it prior to sending your order.

We do not accept staggered payment.

I forgot my password, how do I do?

If you have forgotten your password, please visit this page to reset it.

Can I order a gift card on Gaïora’s website?

For the moment, it is not possible to offer a gift card through Gaïora’s website. We hope this feature will arrive shortly, depending on the number of requests.

Can I submit an artisan’s idea for future collections?

We invite all our customers to submit ideas of craftsmen to work with for our future collections. Please send us an email to hello@gaiora.com, we will be happy to study your proposals!

 

Shipments

 

Towards France

All orders are prepared in our warehouse within 3 working days.  Then, your order is shipped by La Poste-Colissimo within 2 working days (shipping fees from € 8) in Metropolitan France, Corsica and Monaco. Delivery is free for orders beyond 200 €.

Abroad

Parcels abroad are also prepared and packed within a period of 3 working days. Then, they are supported by La Poste Colissimo International for the shipping (shipping fees from 12 €).

No possible returns for purchases made abroad.

 

 

Returns and Refunds

 

How do I return / exchange a product?

Once we have received your order, you have 10 days to return the items that do not suit you, accompanied by the invoice. Be sure to keep the packaging and the tracking number of the package returned.

If you want to exchange a product, we will send you a credit note with the amount of the product(s) purchased so you can buy the product of your choice on our e-shop (subject to availability).

The amount refunded/credited excludes the initial shipping fees.

Be aware that all damaged product after purchase will not be subject to a refund / exchange.

The shipping fees for the return will be at your charge.

How long will I be reimbursed (e)?

We await receipt the order to be returned at our warehouse before making any reimbursement. Then, it takes us a few days to refund you by bank transfer.
